The
Cottages provide safe, clean, structured housing for women in recovery. Our family-like environment is warm and
friendly and guests usually stay between three and six months, or even
longer. There is not a maximum stay at
The Cottages. Guests are welcome to stay as long as they need to if they are
able to abide by the rules and the structure.
There is, however, a minimum stay of 30 days as a monthly commitment
creates a more stable environment. With
only eight women in each home, two per room, there is ample space to start
lying the foundation for new life changes to take place. With our loving dogs and each other, the
ladies are rarely lonely. Although there
are pets on the premises, unfortunately, outside animals are not accepted.
The Cottages structure involves a weekly
alumni AA Big Book Meeting which is Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. or a weekly
alumni AA 12-step meeting Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. depending on the location. Dinner is provided at 6:00 p.m. and along with meeting, it is a great time
for fellowship, a safe place to share recovery, and a good way to connect with
the other guests living in the home.
The Cottages participates in The Hands
of Mercy food bank who receive food from quality vendors and also receive
donations from Starbucks. Along with
other fresh vegetables, herbs, lemons, and avocados from The Cottages garden,
there is plenty of house food for guests who share many meals together. Eating together is valuable as it creates an
intimate time of sharing and unity. The
ladies take turns cooking and cleaning, so as well as "breaking
bread" together, the ladies also learn valuable life skills.
There is also an in-house meditation meeting
Saturday morning at 9 a.m. followed by a house meeting which allows time to
talk about house issues and rules. It is
also the time to come together as a group and work as a team to clean for the
up coming week. For those that lack
cleaning skills, ample opportunity is provided to learn how to clean.
Are The
Cottages for you?
Yes The Cottages are structured, yes
you are expected to follow the house rules and be accountable, and yes we are
serious about recovery. The Cottages has
helped hundreds of women recover from the deadly disease of addiction and you
can be helped too, if you are willing.
